I recently ordered and tried some lovely Merangz from Flower & White. Flower & White are based in Shropshire – a place very dear to me.
We started out on a stand at a local Shropshire market with our unique sharing cakes ‘Tweeners’ which were so irresistible they sold out! Since then we have created many more delicious innovations for you to enjoy including Merangz & Custardz. All of our products are handmade in Shropshire with the best quality available ingredients, natural flavours and British free range eggs.
I placed my first order when I realised that we were leaving Shrewsbury a day before they would have a stall at the Shrewsbury Flower Shown- bummer. I got in touch with them via Twitter and they suggested I get some via QVC.
I headed over to the QVC website and after a very quick search, I purchased a mixed selection . For £19.95 (and £3.95 P&P) I would get the following:
- 1 x Chocolate Giant Swiss Meringue (140g)
- 1 x White Chocolate and Raspberry Giant Swiss Meringue (140g)
- 1 x Fruit Meringue Bites (75g) – one each of passion fruit, black cherry, strawberry, lime, and lemon
- 1 x Classic Meringue Bites (75g) – one each of chocolate, pistachio, hazelnut praline, strawberry, and lemon
- 1 x Chocolate Meringue Bites (75g) – one each of white chocolate, mocha, white chocolate and raspberry, chocolate orange, and chocolate strawberry
I was pretty excited. A few days later, my Merangz arrived.
Inside the very carefully packaged box is a little information guide, most importantly it advised how best to remove and store the Merangz safely.
So with my Merangz safely unpacked, it was all I could do not to scoff the lot there and then. Luckily I restrained myself. Even the boxes are pretty – very colourful and inviting. I couldn’t wait to eat them.
Neil and I shared the first box one evening. We tried the Chocolate Bites Box first. The Merangz are just so beautiful to look at, the colours are bright and they just look so tasty. I think my favourite was the White Chocolate Raspberry – I adore the sharpness of raspberry and it really comes through in this little meringue bites!
Of the two Giant Swiss Meringues – I split the two boxes and gave one of each flavour to Mum and Dad who really enjoyed them.
We were a bit more reversed with the second box. The sugar overload of 5 meringue bites in one go had been a bit much, so we took our time over the next box – Classic Meringue Bites. It was hard to pick a favourite here – the pistachio one was nice as were the strawberry and lemon flavours.
We used a couple from the last box – Fruit Meringue Bites and made our own sort of Eton Mess using lemon sorbet and some fresh blackberries – this was a genius idea by the way.
Each flavour of meringue tastes exactly like you would expect from the named flavour. They are light, sweet and perfectly crisp. They look beautiful on your plate and taste wonderful. I can’t wait to place my next order!
Keep an eye out for my review of Flower & White’s Muffinz (gluten free!!) in the next few weeks.
