Joe & Seph’s Gourmet Popcorn Review

As a member of Coeliac UK I get a magazine, amongst the articles there are always adverts and I spotted an advert for Joe & Seph’s Gourmet Popcorn so I headed to their website for a look.

I love popcorn, it is one of my favourite snacks, I even got a popcorn maker for Christmas last year, so when I saw all the amazing flavours on the website I knew I had to treat myself!

Joe & Seph’s are a family run business based in London where they handmake all their popcorn with natural ingredients – they have over 30 Great Taste Awards as well.

Their popcorn is air popped, which is healthier than the usual manufactured popcorn with is popped in an oil and sugar mix. If you are health conscious, popcorn can be a healthy alternative to crisps.

After much deliberation over the flavours, I picked 6 flavours. You can mix and match and every 6th bag is free – meaning you get 6 80g packs for £19.95 including postage.

I went for:

Goats cheese and black pepper
Blue cheese, walnut and celery
Caramel, white chocolate and raspberry
Cheese on toast
Caramel with cracked black pepper and sea salt

As you might be able to tell, I am a bit of a cheese fiend (which doesn’t go too well with my lactose intolerance).

The delivery was speedy, in a compact little box, the popcorn hadn’t got bashed around and damaged in transit either which was good.

How Did It Taste?

The cheese flavours were really nice.

I didn’t like cheese on toast flavour as much – it was more caramel flavour, so although it tasted really nice, I wanted it to taste like cheese more. The other cheese flavours were a different story – they tasted and smelled exactly like I expected them too and I have to confess that I ate each bag in one sitting (not all on the same day though, don’t worry). I really like the blue cheese, walnut and celery, it has tiny pieces of walnut in with the popcorn and you could really taste the celery too – amazing!

The caramel with black pepper and sea salt was really nice as well, the pepper wasn’t overpowering and really complimented the caramel flavour along with the sea salt. I’ve not tried the white chocolate and raspberry yet, but based on my taste experience so far, I have high hopes.

Each piece of popcorn is big and fat and full of flavour. They certainly haven’t skimped on the quality. They sell smaller grab bags of 40g too which are perfect if you just want a quick snack and you can also get 120g bag which cost £5.00 (the 80g bags are £4.00). Obviously this popcorn is pricier than what you can pick up off the supermarket shelf, but the flavour and quality honestly makes it worth those extra pennies (and they are gluten free!).

They have over 50 flavours to choose from including some festive options like mince pie and brandy butter, they also have some cocktail themed flavours like gin and tonic and mojito flavour! There really is something to choose from to suit every taste. They also sell gift sets which are perfect with Christmas just around the corner.

If Joe & Seph’s are reading this, please consider me to be your next official popcorn tester! In the meantime, I am definitely going to be ordering myself another box full of popcorn to try some more of the flavours. If you are looking for a great tasting and fun snack then definitely head over to Joe & Seph’s to grab your own!

I’d like to thank my cats; Mallorie for helping with the photos (also known as refusing to move out of the way whilst I had my leg in cast and nowhere else to take photos) and Figaro who helped to taste some of the cheese flavours.
