Lush, 1000 Millihelens Jelly Face Mask – Review

So my regular readers (hi Mum!) will know that I recently attended the Lush Summer Event and I was gifted one of their new face masks. I chose 1000 Millihelens and last week I gave it a go.

I am obsessed with face masks. I am obsessed with my pores as well and I love those charcoal nose strips where you can actually see all the gross stuff that comes out of your skin. I do a couple of face masks a week usually and I use lots of different types, so when we were told about the new Lush Jelly Face Masks I was pretty flipping excited.

Lush say this about their newest range:

Seaweed is known for its calming, hydrating qualities, and you’ll find it in bath bombs, shower jellies and hair care. But the time has come for seaweed to take centre stage in the form of five wibbly-wobbly masks that are filled with a lavish blend of moisturising carageenan extract, fresh fruit, and cleansing clays.

They’re loaded with a high concentration of natural ingredients, which means lots of fruit is suspended in a hydrating carrageenan base – giving the masks a satisfyingly squidgy texture. What’s more, their innovative self-preserving  formula means that while each mask is packed full of fresh ingredients, they are also free from synthetic preservatives.

Each cooling mask is easy to use; simply scoop a piece into dry palms and blend until the jelly turns into a cream. Smooth onto your face, then leave the ingredients to sink in for up to 10 minutes. Finally, wash off with warm water or with a cloth to reveal wonderfully radiant skin.

1000 Millihelens is inspired by a Lush lady – as are all the new jelly face masks.

Get back the skin you myth’d with enzymic and brightening fresh apple juice and toning green tea. Witch hazel plays no tricks with its antibacterial and astringent gifts. Sicilian lemon and Brazilian orange oils help to brighten the skin while neroli oil gets to work at brightening the mood. If you fancy swanning around with firmer skin give this a Troy.

Packed with apple juice, green tea, Sicilian lemon and tonnes of other things, 1000 Millihelens smells super fresh and lovely and is a gorgeous, almost shimmery green colour.

I started by cleaning, cleansing and toning my face. I used another Lush favourite of mine – Breath of Fresh Air.

The jelly face mask feels weird and gross and amazing all at the same time, it is really squishy and reminds me of the alien goo stuff you used to be able to get when you were little and you’d accidentally drop it on the carpet and it would end up full of fluff and fur. Luckily, I didn’t drop my face mask.

I found it a little tricky to pinch out a bit but once I’d got some out I rubbed it between my hands a little and proceeeded to whack it all over my face.

Once you are satisfied with your coverage, wait 10 minutes. I used my time constructively to drink a cup of tea and take the obligatory snapchat-filter-whilst-face-masking picture.

Once 10 minutes has passed and you’ve re-evaluated some of your life choices, rinse off the face mask with warm water.

My face felt much firmer, fresher and super clean after using 1000 Millihelens. A small amount provides a lot of coverage and I think I will get a lot of uses out of it. Unlike some of their previous masks it doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge to keep it fresh and has a much longer shelf life.

The fragrance and feel of the mask relaxed me too and some of the redness I often see in my cheeks and nose had faded a little, so all in all 1000 Millihelens gets a massive thumbs up for me. Costing £6.95 and vegan and completely cruelty free, this product is a must have for your skin care routine. Head to Lush to check out all of their new face masks.
