  • Mention the creator of the tag and link to their blog
  • Thank the person that nominated you for this tag and link to their blog as well
  • Shuffle your entire music library (no matter how old songs the songs are) and talk about the first fifteen songs that come up ( anything like why they are there , if they signify something, any story, why you like them, etc.)
  • Mention the songs as well as the artists
  • Tag 7 people or more to do this tag and please let them know

My Spotify library isn’t that big. I’m a bit funny about keeping music on it that I’m not listening to so music is removed and added to my library on a regular basis. Here we go..

1 Golden Slumbers – Elbow

I adore this song. I have always loved the original by The Beatles as well. You may recognise it as the song from the John Lewis Christmas advert for 2017. It is such a beautiful song.

Golden slumbers,
Fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling
Do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

2 The Light We Cast – Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is an indie game that I play on the PS4. It has a beautiful, hauntingly eerie classical music soundtrack. The game is well worth a play and the soundtrack is even more worth a listen.

3 Lies – Mcfly

I flipping love Mcfly. I currently have their greatest hits album in my library and this is one of my favourite Mcfly songs.

4 Everything’s  Cool – Lit

Lit are one of my all time favourite bands. I used to blast this out on my CD player when I was home alone. I first discovered them in school when one of my friends gave me their first album to listen to. I’ve been hooked ever since.

5 Bigger Than Love – Oh Wonder

I first heard Oh Wonder last year. One of their songs – All We Do was the opening theme to an ITV drama called Unforgotten (which was pretty good). As soon as I heard it, I found the song and listened to it on repeat about 50 times. I then found their album and listened to that on repeat. Then they released another album and I listen to that on repeat as well. They remind me a little of Gregory & The Hawk who are responsible for one of my favourite songs ever.

6 Snowman – Sia

Sia released a Christmas album this year and it was wonderful. It has the most amazing festive songs, a totally different kind of Christmas album that you could easily listen to all year round. I love Sia and have all her albums saved in my Spotify Library

7 Golden Slumbers – The Beatles

I told you I liked Golden Slumbers – this is the original. Listen to both versions and like me you’ll fall in love with the way ‘slumbers’ is pronounced.

8 You Really Got A Hold On Me – The Beatles

You may have an inkling by now that I am a big Beatles fan. This song is no exception. When I made a playlist to be played during our wedding breakfast, this was one of the songs on it!

9 Blackbird – The Beatles

This is probably my second favourite Beatles song. It is a gorgeous song to listen to and it really soothes my soul.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

10 All We Do – Oh Wonder

All We Do is the song I mentioned earlier that first introduced me to Oh Wonder. It is a beautiful, if a little sad song. I could listen to it all day.

11 Here You Come Again – Dolly Parton

Who doesn’t love Dolly Parton? This is my favourite Dolly song. Who can’t relate to the lyrics where Dolly describes that moment when you are getting over someone and they pop back into your life to confuse you and break your heart all over again!

12 Hold On – Wilson Phillips

Every time this song comes on my Spotify I have to turn it up and sing it loud. It’s a real open your lungs and sing it song. You may know it from the Bridesmaids soundtrack.

13 Gaston – Beauty and the Beast Soundtrack

Quite a lot of Disney and musical songs pop up on my Spotify from time to time. Gaston is a wonderful song and possibly one of my favourite Disney songs. The number gives you a rather eye opening view to the wonder that is Gaston (no one is as manly, or has as thicker neck as Gaston).

14 Skinny Love – Birdy

I first heard this song years ago and wasn’t sure if I liked it, after watching a video of my second cousin Seren singing it, I had to find it and now it is one of my favourites.

15 Escape (The Pina Colada Song) – Super Holmes

This is right up there on my list of favourite ever songs. It tells the tale of a man who is disheartened by his marriage. One night when he can’t sleep, he decides to respond to a personal ad (what a bastard).

was tired of my lady, we’d been together too long
Like a worn-out recording, of a favourite song
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read

He responds and asks them to meet him in a bar.

Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
I’m not much into health food, I am into champagne
I’ve got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape
At a bar called O’Malley’s, where we’ll plan our escape

When the mysterious writer of the personal ad arrives in the bar, it turns out to be his wife. Who has clearly become fed up with his wandering eye and inability to pick up his pants. Rather than realising they are both in a toxic relationship and splitting up, they decide that the personal ad has indeed put the spark back into the relationship.

If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
If you’re not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
I’m the love that you’ve looked for, come with me, and escape

There you go. My Shuffle Tag is complete. You should know that I have the entire Beatles back catalogue saved to my Library so it’s surprising that all the songs weren’t by The Beatles!

I’d like to thank Stacey again for the tag.

Do you like any of these songs? Are you tempted to give them a listen if you’ve never heard of them? Get in touch below!

I like The Beatles when they done ‘I want to hold your hand’ -I didn’t realize was them at first until Glee done a special episode. I love McFly too, I follow Tom’s and Danny’s wives as they do vlogs etc. I didn’t know Sia done a Christmas album, love warbling along to Chandelier. Thanks for taking part xx

You’ve brought my attention to so much new music; I’d never heard of Lit before or Oh Wonder and I can’t wait to give all these artists a listen! I am very intrigued about the soundtrack for Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture so that’s what I’m going to listen to first 🙂

I absolutely loved Sia’s Christmas album, ‘Underneath the Mistletoe’ is my favourite song from it 🙂 Sia is a fabulous singer and I too love all of her music <3 I didn't know the meaning behind the Pina Colada song so thanks for sharing! x
